Dr. K. Anantha Rao is a Consultant Nephrologist and Renal Transplant Physician at KIMS Hospital, Kurnool, with extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of kidney diseases, dialysis, and kidney transplantation. He completed his DNB in Nephrology at the prestigious Army Hospital (Research & Referral), New Delhi, and also holds a DNB in General Medicine, MRCP (UK), and ESENeph certification.
Over the past 10 years, he has been actively involved in providing comprehensive kidney care across Kurnool and the wider Rayalaseema region. His areas of expertise include chronic kidney disease, diabetic kidney disease, resistant hypertension, glomerular diseases and vasculitis, electrolyte disorders, hemodialysis, HDF, CRRT, and complex renal transplantation.
He has been part of more than 100 kidney transplants, including ABO-incompatible, swap, and deceased-donor transplantation, and was involved in pioneering milestones such as the first pediatric ABO-incompatible kidney transplant in Andhra Pradesh and the first swap kidney transplant in Rayalaseema.
Alongside clinical practice, Dr. K. Anantha Rao is actively involved in academic teaching, professional conferences, and public education, with a strong focus on helping patients understand kidney disease, dialysis, organ donation, and transplantation. His clinical approach emphasizes evidence-based medicine, individualized treatment, clear communication with patients and families, and providing advanced kidney care closer to home for the people of Rayalaseema.
